Leadership is defined by the GLOBE study as “the ability of an individual to influence, motivate and enable others to contribute to the effectiveness and success of the organizations of which they are members”

This “influencing others”, is not restricted to those with a leadership title or position, we can all have a leadership “impact”!

Some of us will impact those close to us, some of us will use our leadership to get things done, others will impact and influence different parts of an organisation to cooperate together and others will, maybe, influence and inspire for some “greater good”.

Social leadership is about influencing and motivating those directly around you; friends, family, neighbours, colleagues, etc., to contribute to the common good of their community.

Operational leadership is about influencing and guiding others in order to get things done at cost, on time and to specification.

Organisational leadership is about influencing and federating different parts of an organisation to cooperate for the global objectives of the organisation and not just their department or business unit objectives.

Strategic leadership is about influencing and promoting a direction for members of an organisation to follow a new approach, procedure or way of working.

Political leadership is about influencing and encouraging “actors” outside the organisation to support the organisation in its growth – local authorities, government, investors ….

Spiritual leadership is about influencing and inspiring, above & beyond the organisation, in order to achieve societal goals and contribute to personal and environmental wellbeing.
